Simulation Study on the Sediment Dispersion during Deep-Sea Nodule Harvesting

چکیده
During the harvesting of polymetallic nodules on seabed, sediment plume due to disturbance seabed impacts benthic ecosystem. A numerical simulation based SPH (smooth particle hydrodynamics) method is used estimate time and length scale impact near during a small-scale process. The result considerably agrees with one from lab-scale water-channel experiment. It found that, in plume, traced sub-plume iso-surface lower concentration travels longer distance, spends achieve stable state. Moreover, increase releasing rate disturbed sediment, spreads over greater which also needs more

Draft Genome Sequence of Microbacterium profundi Shh49T, an Actinobacterium Isolated from Deep-Sea Sediment of a Polymetallic Nodule Environment
Microbacterium profundi strain Shh49(T) was isolated from deep-sea sediment from a polymetallic nodule area located in the East Pacific Ocean. Strain Shh49(T) contains genes related to the reduction/oxidation of metals. It has potential application in the bioremediation of heavy metal-contaminated environments.
متن کاملMesorhizobium sediminum sp. nov., isolated from deep-sea sediment.
A novel Gram-staining-negative, short rod, non-motile, non-spore-forming, aerobic bacterium, designated strain YIM M12096T, was isolated from deep-sea sediment collected from the Indian Ocean. Optimal growth conditions of the strain were observed at 25-30 °C, pH 6.0 and in the presence of 3-5 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain YIM M12096T ...
متن کاملIdentification of deep-sea-sediment bacteria which produce tetrodotoxin.
Forty-nine bacterial strains were isolated from deep-sea sediments. Among them, 22 strains were shown by the tissue culture assay method to produce sodium channel blockers. For some strains, high-performance liquid chromatography analysis confirmed that the blocker was tetrodotoxin. Tetrodotoxin-producing bacteria seem to be widespread in marine sediment.
متن کاملthe effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation
in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
Sea Seismometer Coupling on the Sediment
− We can obtain the performance of the marine seismometer upon the sediment to know its coupling in the bottom sea. This paper deals with the coupling parameters in order to obtain the geophone response through the frequency. The use of the shake table and vibration calibrator allows to deduce the coupling transfer function between the geophone and the sediment sea without using a detailed mode...
